GLIDE

About the Project

Opening disc golf to more people

GLIDE is a European cooperation project exploring how grassroots sport can become more inclusive, accessible and connected to the communities around it.

What is GLIDE?

GLIDE (Grassroots Links for Inclusion, Diversity and Engagement through Sport) uses disc golf as a simple, low-cost and adaptable sport to create more inclusive and accessible opportunities for physical activity.

By working at the grassroots level, we help local clubs, organisations and communities open the game to people who face barriers to sport and participation.

Why Disc Golf?

Low-cost

Minimal equipment, often free to play on public courses.

Easy to learn

Simple rules make it easy to get started.

Adaptable

Can be played by people of different ages and abilities.

Outdoors

Encourages activity in nature with benefits for body and mind.

Who we focus on

GLIDE focuses on four groups that continue to face barriers to participation in sport and physical activity.

Women & Girls

Creating more welcoming spaces and opportunities to get involved.

Older Adults

Promoting active ageing and a fun, low-impact way to stay moving.

People with disabilities

Exploring adaptations and inclusive approaches to ensure everyone can participate.

People with low incomes

Reducing financial barriers and building inclusive, community-based opportunities.
